So back ont'road again, La Cigalle was memorable, Stockholm was sublime and Berlin was bangin'.
Thanks to one and all for appreciating our new stuff, we promise to play more as and when we have it polished and giggable, I reckon some of the less rehearsed numbers just need a wee baptism o' fire. Send him Away's gonna sound great once we all play it in the right key (sorry bout that Berlin).
Had the good fortune to be paired up with some stellar acts though, Yo Majesty! in Paris were pure amazin' as were Kamerakino the other night and Park Hotell in Stockholm were a real discovery.
Just arrived in Warsaw, looks a lot like Glasgow, grey, dreech, industrial with a big shitting motorway through the middle. I think I need to hit the old town for a more balanced picture.

JIVE BABY ON A FRIDAY NIGHT
*********************************
We're all going out this friday!
It's Kamerakino's first Scottish show but not only that, DIVORCE play their very first show ever. Not heard them yet but they come from a fine pedigree.
Expect a punch in the ears and a kick in the belly.
Also I'll be playing records before and after the bands.
Not sure how much it is in yet but I doubt it'll be over a fiver.
Kicks off 8PM!

WOBBLY BASSLINES
it will be mine
Just got back from a week in New York, played a couple of shows, including the Obama-Rama fundraiser, where thanks to a storming set, us arrogant Brits might just have swung it for the Democrats in the crucial swing state of Brooklyn.
On Saturday we did that Diesel 30 year party and collaborated with the "King of the South" TI on his "number one smash" Live your Life. You might have heard it, it samples that "faaalahee" europop smash from a few years back, the youtube sensation, you know, fat kid, miming to webcam? You've all seen it.
It was fun and flattering to be asked. TI was gonna spit over 16 bars of Ulysses during our set but his federal curfew states he has to be in bed by 2am, turns out he is awaiting sentencing on a gun change. Oh well, next time. Who knows, soon we could be doing "Chocolate Rain" with Jay Z.
I met my friend Michael while I was over, he hosts a show on New Jersey freeform radio station www.WFMU.org called "Choking on Cufflinks" and introduced me to a little known Cambridge group from the early 1980s called "The Jellies" who released only one 7' single in their time, called "Jive Baby on a Saturday Night".
Ever since we recorded our second album in NYC where I stayed in Michael's apartment and unearthed his prized stash of super rare British DIY seven inches, it has remained one of my favourite ever records, with it's louche bassline, dry handclaps and naive girlgroup vocal and I've been forever searching for that elusive copy to no avail.
Anyway by a complete flukey stab in the dark, Michael managed to track down the 2 founding members and presumably the source of the rest of the copies of the 7 inch, as apparently only 30 ever made it to the shops. So I'm still holding out for my very own.

And here's the tune.... bassline!

RED RED TAPE
*************************************
The 2nd of the shows I recorded for Diesel U Music airs tomorrow
Monday 6th Oct at 2 til 4pm.
on good ol' proper radio 106.6 FM IF you're in Glasgow.
If you live somewhere else in the world you can use the "listen again" function on www.dieselumusicradio.com
In spite of my prattling on about playing music from around the globe, the show features no music from the Ivory Coast or Iran but said music was in my record bag that day, I can assure you.
I guess I was having so much fun I forgot to play them.
Next time kids.

Much love

CHASING SHEEP
this is a bit old but i just found it again and still love it. I was just driving along a country lane listening to 'baby please don't go' by 'Them' when this happened. I was on my way to record the second album. A great day. I 'd been driving for about ten minutes behind these beasts before I managed to overtake one of them but got stuck behind the rest. You can see the singled out guy in the rear mirror if you look closely.
